STEAM Funding for Classrooms

The Empower Grant Program awards $25,000 in total each year to K-12 classroom projects in Larimer, Weld, and Boulder counties. Grant funds are used to support educational projects that focus on STEAM learning objectives – science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Grant funds have been used to purchase 3D printers, robotic kits, outdoor learning spaces, aquaponic systems, electronic music inventor kits, and more!

Applications are accepted between August to November of each year, with winners notified in December. See program details below for exact dates and application requirements.

How could you use STEAM funding in your classroom?

Program Guidelines

Up to $2,000 per teacher, per year.

One application per teacher, per year.

Applicants must be from a school located in Larimer, Weld, or Boulder County. Priority will be given to schools/teachers serving PVREA members.

Projects should be STEAM focused – science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. No food, furniture, athletic equipment, or any other consumable.

Funds should be used within the school year the application is received.

All monies received must go toward the applicant’s specified request.

Number of students that attend school at that location.

Itemized list for project materials.

Teacher’s plan – highlighting STEAM focused project parameters.

Principal’s signature approval verifying program is within the district’s educational plan.

Agreement for PVREA to follow up and share stories.

Photo/video release for teachers and students.

Our line workers will visit your classroom or group meeting to share their knowledge and expertise in energy and electrical safety.
